The Bible

Living Way Church believes that the Bible is the authoritative revelation of the will, word and nature of God. The Bible is the final standard by which all doctrine and practice is to be judged. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

The Trinity

Living Way Church believes that God’s essential and eternal nature is Triune. There is one God. God is three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each person is fully God. (Matthew 3:16-17;28:19)

Jesus Christ

Living Way Church believes that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. By his birth, death, burial, resurrection and ascension Jesus is God’s provision for our eternal salvation through faith in him. (John 1:1-14)

Creation

Living Way Church believes that God created all things out of nothing. He created them good, but distinct from himself, as a reflection of his image and to glorify who he is. (Genesis 1; Hebrews 11:3)

Sin

Living Way Church believes that though God created all things good, sin has entered into the world through the willing choice of Adam and that this sin is passed on by nature to every person since. We are born with a sin nature and we choose to sinfully commit acts against God and his revealed will. (Romans 5:12-19, I John 1:8-10)

Salvation

Living Way Church believes that salvation is a gift of God whereby he attributes the merits of Jesus Christ’s perfect righteousness to sinful individuals by grace, through faith. Salvation affects us presently by freeing us from the power of sin and eternally by securing our right standing relationship with God. (Ezekiel 36:26-27; John 3:16-17; Romans 1:16-17;10:9-10)

The Church

Living Way Church believes that the Church is the true, spiritual collective of those whom Jesus Christ has redeemed. The church is a universal reality as well as a local community and we seek unity both amongst our local body as well as with other congregations. (Ephesians 2:19-22; Revelation 7:9-10)

Baptism

Living Way Church believes that water baptism is a sign, given to us by God, to indicate his covenant of salvation to us. Water Baptism mirrors the experience of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolically associating the merits of his righteousness given to us. We baptize those who’ve made a confession of their faith in Jesus Christ by fully immersing them in water. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3-4; Colossians 2:11-15)

Communion

Living Way Church believes that communion (also called the Lord’s Supper or the Eucharist) is a symbol for our partaking of and participating in the community of Jesus Christ. By receiving the bread and the cup, which represent the body and blood of Jesus Christ, we are confessing our faith in him and our inclusion within the church. (Matthew 26:26-29; I Corinthians 11:23-34)

Worship

Living Way Church believes that worship is the act of giving glory to God with our words, our hearts and our works. Christians are to live a lifestyle that gives thanks and praise to God for our salvation all the time, but especially when we come together in a unified setting through song, prayer and the reading of scripture. (Romans 12:1; Colossians 3:16; I Timothy 4:11-14)

Spiritual Gifts

Living Way Church believes that the Holy Spirit has gifted every Christian with a supernatural ability to contribute to the mutual encouragement and construction of the church. Those gifts are clearly taught in the scriptures and are to be sought and practiced until the day Jesus Christ returns. (1 Corinthians 1:4-8; 12:1-11)

The Return of Christ (Heaven and Hell)

Living Way Church believes that there is a literal and actual Heaven and a literal and actual Hell and that they are the eternal destinations of all souls who ever lived. When Jesus Christ returns to Earth, as the scriptures describe, he will execute a final judgement securing that eternal destiny for all. The redeemed shall dwell in resurrected bodies in the presence of the Lord in the New Heavens and New Earth. (Titus 2:11-14; Revelation 21-22)

Serving/Giving

Living Way Church believes that all members of the church are called to practice service and generosity both within the church as well as outside of the walls of the church. Generous giving of our time, talents and treasures is a blessing to those we serve and a reflection of the good purpose we were created for. (Malachi 3:10; 2 Corinthians 8:1-15)

Evangelism

Living Way Church believes that God’s primary method of communicating the good news (gospel) of Jesus Christ to the world is through common, everyday people. This means that have every believer has both the privilege and the responsibility to tell others of Jesus Christ and to call them to have faith in him. (mark 16:15; Acts 20:21)

Missions

Living Way Church believes that God has established the church to be involved in global, cross-cultural missions. We believe that this is to be accomplished through the sending, supporting, training and assisting missionaries throughout the world and across denominational affiliations. (Acts 1:8; Revelation 5:9-10)

Sex, Gender, Marriage and Family

Living Way Church believes that God created human beings in His image; male and female He created them. We believe that God’s creation and consecration of the family—husband and wife in marriage covenant acting as father and mother to children—is God’s good gift to the world and is to be honored, taught and encouraged. (Genesis 1:27; 2:24; Ephesians 5:21-23)
